Darned Emergency Purchases!

So the other day I felt for a glass of wine. I almost never drink and when I do, it’s usually only 1 or 2 – I’m such a lightweight! I had a bottle of Pineapple Mango Girls Night Out wine that had been sitting open in my fridge for at least 6 months, so I decided to pour a glass (and you can be sure I won’t make that mistake again – here I am with the new laptop, drinking wine out of a Tupperware bottle).

My laptop is sitting on a little TV table by the couch and I put the glass on the side, where I always usually put my cup. Didn’t I knock it with my hip as I sat down! Yep, the whole glass went right over my laptop, table, floor, couch and me. Most of it went in the laptop. It was literally dripping out of it when I lifted it up. I immediately unplugged it, turned it off and almost cried – lol, My brother threw me a roll of paper towel and my son brought me down a towel.

All I can say is I’m glad it was a 12+ year old laptop and was due for an upgrade anyways. I just wasn’t expecting to have to do it now. But if it was going to happen now, at least it happened at Black Friday weekend. The only thing is that I just splurged the night before and bought myself a TV for my bedroom (I’ve never bought a TV for my bedroom before!  I had one for a brief while in there when my ex lived here, but that’s the only time I’ve ever had a TV in my bedroom). I wouldn’t have got it if I knew I was going to be laptop shopping the next day!

My son loaned me his laptop to use for the night because I was running a BINGO game in my VIP group (want to join it to see all the new stuff as it launches and play games? Join here!) After we got our winner, I went searching for laptop deals.  I looked at Best Buy, The Source, Walmart and then someone reminded me about Staples.  I ended up walking over to Staples and found a few that interested me.  I found an employee and asked his opinion between the 2 I had narrowed it down to and he told me 1 of them wasn’t in stock – so that made my decision nice and easy!  I’m now the proud owner of a new Lenovo laptop and so far so good.  I am getting used to the feel of the keyboard – it’s a little more scrunched together than my last one was, but I’m starting to get the feel for it.

When I went to post on my Facebook about what happened, I almost added to my post this line to the end of the paragraph I posted – Anyone need anything from my site ???  But I decided against it.  I didn’t want it to feel like a “salesy” post.  I asked my brother what he thought and he agreed with my gut to leave it out.  What do you think.  Good call or should I have added it?

Fingers crossed I can get the old one turned on once it’s completely dried out so I can pull some files off of it.  All my tax info from the last few years of doing my own taxes is on there.  I’m not too concerned about anything else on there.

Have you upgraded your laptop recently?  How did you decide which one to get?

Until next time, xoxo
